Carcinoid tumors are slow-growing neuroendocrine tumors in the colon.

Symptoms

  • Abdominal pain
  • Bleeding
  • Obstruction (rare)
  • Carcinoid syndrome (very rare)

Diagnosis

  • Colonoscopy
  • Biopsy
  • Octreotide scan
  • Chromogranin A

Treatments

  • Surgical resection
  • Somatostatin analogs (if metastatic)
